For thirty years, my husband Ralph and I built businesses.
A café in Sydney that we ran seven days a week. An ad agency. A 48-lot subdivision in the Whitsundays. A wedding business that ran out of Bali. We transacted 117 properties. We made tens of millions of dollars. And in 2008, we lost nearly all of it inside a single margin loan.
One night, not long after, I stood in the garden and genuinely believed the world would be better without me. Ralph said, “Darling, nothing is worth that. We’ll get through this together.”
That sentence cracked open the identity I’d been hiding behind my entire adult life.
What followed wasn’t a clean redemption story. It was ten years in the valley: workshops, retreats, books, modalities, spiritual speed dating. Some of it useful, most of it not. Slowly, the real work began to clarify.
In 2020 I launched a program called The Fifth Door, and over five years worked with more than 350 people across Australia, the UK, and the US. In 2023 I burnt out. Ten hours a day on Zoom. I took a two-year sabbatical to rebuild.
The 2nd Mountain is what came out of that rebuild. A more honest, more refined version of the work, designed for the people I now know I’m here to serve: people who’ve achieved the version of life they were aiming for, and have quietly realised it isn’t theirs.
If that’s you, welcome. The view from here is different.
